I ventured out of NJ this weekend for a change of scenery. While I didn’t travel to a distant or faraway land, I did get out of Dodge. I hopped in my car on Friday night, and traveled 52 miles to Weehawken NJ with my 13-year-old to cat-sit for a friend. My friend was the one who ventured to a faraway land instead of me. ...
Is it just me or does everyone get completely pissed off when someone takes the last one? Of anything?
Imagine you were saving the last donut from the Dunkin' Donuts ½ dozen box. Keep in mind, being a good and thoughtful person, you bought two of each kind to satisfy everyone’s particular tastes, and then someone takes the last one...
It’s the middle of January, and well, I have recurring visions of the movie “ground hog day.” It’s the same shit different day, for all of us. We all have a shared anniversary. When it first happened, I would report the Corona chronicles and my Corona cravings. BUT, I’ve been stuck at home for so long its no longer funny. I am trying to find new material to joke about, and I am repurposing old stuff in the meantime....
So, it's 2021. Happy New Year people! Congrats - you survived!
I choose to look through the windshield rather than the rear-view mirror. There are many, many others who use those in-car cameras and never look back when they are pulling out of a parking spot. Don’t you hate that? Can we get ANY lazier? Mirrors, yes, those were the good ol’ days....
'Twas the week before Christmas… and I'm missing my U.S. Marine. He is currently stationed overseas, making it too difficult to come home for a visit. It’s our first Christmas without our eldest son since he was born, 19 years ago. I’ve had moments of tears, and moments with smiles remembering Christmases past. I just hung up all our stockings, including his Santa stocking with his name in cursive glitter across the top...
I've been doing a lot of sitting the last eight months. Sitting down to eat, sitting on the couch to watch TV, sitting in the bathroom. I sit up in bed to read, too, unless I'm reading a cookbook; well, then I stand. I sit in the car to drive to the store, the bank, and to the post office and to restaurants.
I am soooooo tired of sitting...
Traditions. Everybody has them, but we don’t always remember how they got started. The story usually begins with, “When I was young”, or, “I remember growing up, this is what we used to do.” As an example, growing up I can remember going at least once to my grandmother’s house in Howard Beach, NY...
So, is it just me, or does everyone have callouses or bruises on their elbows? I've been sitting and working in this particular chair for so long that I've developed callouses on both my elbows. It actually hurts. I'm using old wooden chairs with big sturdy arms, early Americana style… with spindles...
So it's time for another blog. I'm having flashes of Groundhog Day. Activities are starting to repeat themselves, and the same old thing is happening. I've lost track of the days, but I know we are about to start week 33. My things-to-do list is extensive, and yet, repetitive. Most stuff has carried over from the week before, I think I've been caught in a Time Warp...
I love this time of year....I go into hibernation, just like the bears. I forage for food, pack on a few pounds AND, for extra warmth, I stop shaving! I totally embrace the 'No Shave November' movement....
OK, OK no pressure, but I am a bit behind in my blog writing. To say I’ve been distracted is an understatement.
Distracted by what you ask? Nearly everything...I think I have an undiagnosed case of ADHD. If I were to put everything into buckets or categories it would look something like this...
I credit my interest and exploration into the stand-up comedy world to many people. I’ve been encouraged, guided, supported and appeased by family, friends, mentors, coaches and fellow comedians.....
